I'm Open To Suggestion

So, I've decided to take a trip in November, kind of a combination birthday and Thanksgiving. I was thinking maybe New York City, as I haven't been back in quite a while. But I think there's got to be more out there. I want to stay within the country, as I don't want to hassle with a passport. So I'm open to hear some suggestions on what's fun to do around the great U. S. of A. I love a road trip, but I am good to fly as well.

I'd love to hear of some great things to see and do from all of you. I have to book pretty soon too. So....Whatcha got?

  1. Dyck-You have GOT to be kidding! LOL I was thinking more along the lines of FUN things to do, ya know?

  2. You can't go wrong visiting Baton Rouge/New Orleans. I hear that's where all the really cool people are.

  3. Sgt-Oh really? So what will the weather be like there in late November?

  4. This is ridiculous. If you're staying within the country there is no place better than NYC.

If you go to New Orleans there is a chance you may trip over one of Angelina Jolie's children and hurt yourself

  5. Hot and humid. Like always.

Come on down, Your first Pat-O's hurricane is on me.

  6. Ryan-Thanks for that bit of advice. I do know about the attributes NYC...I lived there for about 9 months. The T-day Parade holds a place in my heart, which is why I'm considering it.

Sgt-A hurricane at Pat O's? That's awfully tempting...

  7. Chicago's a good place, but no in November...too cold! What about Little Rock, Arkansas??? Tons of fun shit to do there.

    Las Vegas
    Vermont
    Maine

  8. I've been to 46 states but hellllll if I know where to tell you where to go. You're flying and I prefer to drive and just see the sights and find really good food. If you go to CA get the fish tacos.

I did have the best time ever driving all the hell over Fl. last winter. We went to lots of small towns (they have the BEST thrift and antique stores in FL cuz so many old people go there to die) and I got to see both oceans and there were natural springs that were like the perfect temperature EVER that you could swim in in like January and I saw an aligator on the road and a bunch of other shit.

Ok I'm rambling like an idiot I'm sorry I'm no help.

But my Boss says that Hawaii is like heaven and she loves it so much that it is the only place she's gone on vacation to for 3 years in a row. So there's that.

  9. Jenny-I lived in California for 4 years, and if I go, I was thinking more along the lines of Napa Valley. Vegas would be a cheap trip since I don't really gamble. Thanks!

Lindygirl-Florida in November? No thanks. Hawaii would be awesome, but I'm not sure what the funds will look like that close to Christmas. I will be returning to Hawaii at some point. I love it there. Thanks!

  10. Come to Atlanta, SB... We have a new aquarium near our new World of Coca-Cola, and the High Museum of Arts is nice if you enjoy that stuff. There's nothing like having drinks and watching the sunset from the rotating Sundial restaurant -- or the lounge above it -- on top of the very tall Westin Peachtree Plaza in downtown Atlanta, and all you have to do from there is cross the street to Pitty Pat's Porch for one of the best southern cuisine meals around. There's tons of other stuff, but those just crossed my mind.

  11. Brant-Wow! Are you with the Atlanta Chamber of Tourism? ;o) It has been a while since I've been to Hot-lanta. Thanks!

  12. Ok.. 2 free Hurricanes and I flash my breasts at you.. but that's my final offer.

  13. I suggest that you visit Baltimore. I think that Mr. Brown and I can keep you entertained.

  14. TFG-Oh I like to be "entertained". However, after the Doo Doo wedding didn't work out, I'd hate to bring back any painful memories for Mr. Brown.

  15. Stick with NYC. I love the T-Giving parade, too.

  16. Sgt Redline! Two free hurricanes AND you will actually flash me?? LOLOLOL I may be leaning towards Louisiana now...

Cruiser-I KNOW! But I kinda have an itch to take a road trip, and all the way to NYC would eat up all my time.

  18. *perking up at seeing Hawaii in the mix*

I'm a Wicked Wahine from Oahu. If you ever choose to fly to "paradise," check out the most definitive site on the islands: www.hawaii.com.

If you're short on time and cashola (and you need A LOT of both to properly tour Hawaii), just stay on the Big Island. If you go in December, you can snow board and surf on the same day.

I'll be posting some "local girl" perspectives on Hawaii soon, so stop on by if you're interested.

  19. Revree-Yes, I'm sure it's quite nice. However, I'm thinking for this trip, I'll stay on my own continent. lol

Mama Bear-I LOVE Hawaii...but my pocketbook not so much. It may have to be the next trip after this one. Thanks for the link, and I'll check out your postings!

  20. Napa Valley. You can never go wrong a place that encourages you to get boozed up and has the Come to Jesus Taco Truck. No, I'm not kidding, you've got to google it.

  21. Napa Valley would rock! Go there, go there...and take me wiht you!

  22. Legal Eagle: Yes, it is a magical place!

Dr. Ken: Been there, done that. And I love the King!

Jenny: I'll let you know when I decide! LOL The more the merrier!

  23. Sassy - Don't listen to Mighty D. Based on his recommendation, I based my entire vacation around a visit to the Super Colon. Did THAT stink. I had no idea the thing wasn't fastened down. Upon entry, the damned colon turned into a rectal Slinky and gave me a harrowing ride down the mountain, shooting me out at the bottom. Apparently it's "Tourist Intolerant".

I'll see what I can come up with instead ...

  24. Puerileuwaite-LOLOL I almost choked on my breakfast! And of course I would NEVER take Dyck's suggestion. I mean, I'm blonde, but I'm not dumb...

  25. Boston? Quincy Market, the Aquarium and the 3d theater? Little Italy, etc

A nice quiet little inn of some sort in Vermont, maybe in a ski resort town?

Keystone, Colorado is a nice ski resort. But the altitude is killer.

    Seattle's cool.

    Never been outside Canada.

But, in the words of that guy, 'Seattle's cool'. Where I live (which, might I add, is still classified) is climate-wise exactly like Seattle.

But it's not as cold and it doesn't rain as much.

  27. ATG-Glad to see you're back! Sorry to hear it's still in Canada. ;o)
